I’ve Been Naughty

Oh so naughty. I feel myself slipping from this health conscience attitude, but when you don’t see results it’s hard to stay focused…

We have recently moved and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs for three days straight really wears on a girl. Then there’s the rearranging the house, cleaning up old mess, creating new mess, hosting a house warming party with food and beer and feeling like I gained 10 pounds in one day. Then there was yard work and cleaning out the garage to set up a printmaking studio (yyaaaayy! :D) and the days just keep slipping by!
My new roommate and I went for a run to the organic produce stand probably half a mile away to snatch up some sweet corn, though it was gone, and that half run/half walk killed me! It definitely shouldn’t have.

We were in a bad place in the last house and a lot of emotional eating has occurred and still does a bit (still unemployed), but now I’m ready to get back on the horse. I feel proud to have so much perseverance and to keep going for it, no matter how many times I’ve fallen off this weight loss horse. Ugh.

So there’s 2 weeks before my bridesmaid dress fitting and Thursday I have a doctor’s appt. where I was really hoping when they weighed me that I would be slimmer and would get to hear the praise.. But alas… my world has rocked my boat and I need to steady it so I can row ashore.

^ pretty proud of that metaphor. haha. Maybe I should be a writer…. nah.

I also have a full woman’s exam in December so that will be another goal to get my act together so I can hear the praise of the doctors. 🙂 And don’t forget the wedding in early October where I’ll be sporting a strapless, fuschia dress among other bridesmaids who happen to be size 0-2. Yaaay…. :/

Writing this post has made me hungry… lol. I guess it IS lunch time… Summer = Cause of loss of days.

So here’s my goal (and I’m sure you’re tired of hearing I have new goals and that they don’t get reached):

No beer this week
Only veggies, a bit of fruit and lean meat
Work out EVERY day.

Pretty simple, but it will be a good kick start to getting back into it.

My work out routine as of today will remain the same:
Squats
Triceps
Abs

….but I may do some research to find something new to shake it up.

I’ve also purchased protein shake mix. It’s kinda yummy and I think it’s the reason I haven’t lost muscle since not working out these last two weeks.

I’m also going to FREAKING RUN MORE! This is getting quite ridiculous. I put off running like it’s the plague… It’s like 70 degrees and overcast out right now, why am I not running?! I am. 🙂 Well, I will once I spell check and publish this anyway… I added another run to my account on mapmyrun.com and will be bringing my stop watch to time myself accordingly.

So there you have it! I’ve resurfaced with a stronger game face and some serious distaste for how I’ve let myself slip. So here’s to me! Here’s to us! Let’s freakin do this!

Monday Legs Routine

Where Do I Begin?

What a year I’m having. I’m states away from family, I’m stuck in my college town after I’ve graduated, I still have roommates (and will continue to, although the next one I’m pretty excited about!) and now I’m jobless. So what the heck am I doing with myself? It’s easy for one to get down on themself in times like these, but I assure you this is no pity party. I thrive in awful situations, I phoenix out of the mess of past relationship and awkward new ones, I. AM. NOTTA. And I rule. This is the time of life that so many stories and movies are taken from. So I am making my own story and powering through this mess until I am secure in my dream town, working at a big girl job preparing for the rest of my life with a certain somebody that I am mad about. 😀

So here’s what I’ve done since being laid off:

Cried
Ate a whole pizza
Drank dark beer
Slept
Drove to Florida to visit my parents (so very much-needed)
Coffee with friends and ex co-workers.
and maybe more pizza…

But! I haven’t gained a pound! I noticed I lost some muscle when we came back from Florida and I could barely pick up my 6lb weights, but still. After eating my feelings for a week, I seem to have kept it off. We did swim in every water vessel possible and walk around a lot, so that may have something to do with it.

My next step is to re-establish a routine. The last two mornings I’ve been up at 8 and either worked out or ran. So now I’m one step closer to not being a lazy slob.
Today my run was pretty damn good, actually. I have less than a month to reach my one mile goal and I’m getting nervous. But I’m closing the gaps between running and walking, so hopefully by July 1st I can run the whole thing. It’s a win I mostly certainly need. So that is my number one priority right now, with job searching a close (unwanted) second and my new business adventure with my bestie a very close third. <—- More on that to come!

My June workout is in place (a day late) but I’ve revamped it to focus more on specific areas. I hope to post the videos for each day’s workout starting Sunday or Monday so you can all enjoy! I use a lot from the POP Pilates collection. She just knows exactly what I want to work, Its crazy!

So that’s all for now. I know I’ve been aloof, but when life gives you lemons… you squeeze them over ice and add vodka..

Why Am I Struggling So Much?!

Friday Weigh-In: Nothin. Still 3 lbs down.. that’s it.

This is getting frustrating! I know I’m impatient, but jeeze! I’ve been at this since February. I can’t run a mile, I can’t lose weight. This is redic. I can only skim fitness board on Pinterest for so long before I lose hope. Grrr. I need some words of wisdom or miracle cures or a kick in the butt. I don’t know yet…

So THIS WEEK!!! I am getting up in the morning to run.  I have to or it will never happen this summer! I know me. haha. I kinda got distracted from the Summer Butt Challenge, but I’m bringing it back. It really made it hard to get up sometimes, my legs hurt so bad. haha. But I LOVE that kind of hurt. So Good.

The Week of the Butt

Oh goodness.. Is my newbie showing? Did I post a link to my blog in my blog? Oi. I’m still new to this, haha. Anyway! Thanks for the new followers! How exciting. 🙂

Today I started the Skinny Ms Summer Butt Challenge.. and it kicked my butt. No pun intended. Actually, pun COMPLETELY intended. But first I went for a run! It was so lovely out, just the perfect amount of cool breeze and indirect sunlight. So my legs are killing me. But! I feel AMAZING. I keep finding muscle in places I never knew muscle existed. How exciting. Also, the boyfriend can’t keep his hands off my hips. 😉 It’s amazing to know someone will love you whatever size and shape you are. He must be a keeper! Now if I could just get him to work out with me…. hmm.

Today I learned what Butt Burns and Prisoner Squats are and let me tell you, they are as intense as they sound. You can find them on my last blog under the Skinny Ms Summer Butt Challenge link. I also found this website (thanks to Bob) that I will investigate more today. http://www.mytrainerbob.com/

Never mind.. It costs money. I am on a strict low income workout routine. No gym, no gimmicks. Just me, my weights, my mat and a body full of ambition. But perhaps I’ll break that rule and join the aquatic center for swimming.. We shall see. I’m pretty cheap.

Can you believe I said “Knockers” in yesterday’s blog? Haa. Whoa.

Also, note to self: more recipes on this site! I’ve been slickety slackin on that! I just need my fridge fixed so I can store food in it again and we’ll be set!

I don’t have a lot to say today. I’m just in a really good mood and Its all thanks for my bout of motivation which turned into a decent run and heavy work out. I found a new anthem! I will post that in a second. It deserves its own post. Otherwise, keep me posted on upcoming run/walk community events and I will keep you updated on my “July 1st 1 mile goal.” If you don’t know the goal is that I want to be able to run 1 stinking mile by July 1st.

So, another goal this week (on top of the butt challenge, lots of water, and no late night snacking) is to get up one morning before work and get a run in. Pretty intense for me, but once summer comes it will probably be my only option because of the heat. Wish me luck!
